Rejuvenate Your Neck with Thread Lift:
Procedure, Benefits, and Recovery
If you suffer from loose, saggy skin around your neck, it is very easy to feel old, tired, depressed, and frustrated. Facial skin laxity decreasing is a classic sign of ageing and the cause of problems like drooping cheeks and jowls. But you are not alone, there is a less-invasive alternative; the neck thread lift procedure
In the past, if you wanted to deal with these kinds of issues, you had to go under the knife and have facelift surgery.
We understand that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Although there are injectables and non-invasive alternatives, they are not nearly as effective.
Introducing the bridging gap between facelifts and skin resurfacing – thread lifts.

What is a neck thread lift?
A neck thread lift often referred to as a barbed suture neck lift, is a cosmetic, non-surgical procedure that is devised to sculpt and lift your skin to reshape, tighten and tone the skin on and around your neck and face.
In thread lifts, medical-grade, the temporary suture material is used to stitch up your skin until it is nice and taut.
Even if this is the first time you’ve heard of it or read about the procedure, it has been available since the 90s.
Over the years, innovations in the materials used have been one of the main factors in why they have become so popular recently.

How long does a neck thread lift last?
This is a very important question because you want to know that if you undergo the procedure that while not harmful or painful, takes a lot of effort and is expensive, will last.
As it is not nearly as permanent as facelifts, you can’t expect it to last as long.
Although the threads will only stay inside your skin for around 6 months, the actual effects of the lift procedure and skin tightening will last even after the threads have disappeared and as your body produces more collagen, you could get at least 2 years of firmer skin.

How does a thread lift work on the neck?
Thread lifts are quite straightforward. Thin and dissolvable sutures are threaded underneath your skin and then the doctor performing the procedure can pull on the skin around your neck to tighten it right up.
Painless, invisible barbs grab at your skin and ensure that the thread can grip onto the underlying muscles and tissues as the skin is pulled gently, but tightly.
When barbed threads are inserted inside your skin, your body’s natural healing process kicks into action.
Although you are not injured, your body detects the material and stimulates the production of collagen around the treated area.
Collagen then can fill in any gaps there are in your saggy skin and give you a more restored and youthful elasticity around your neck.

Is a thread lift around the neck area worth it?
Whether any cosmetic procedure is worth it or not comes down to whether you can afford it and are bothered by sagging skin that lacks elasticity.
If you are troubled by it and are suffering self-esteem issues as a result and can afford the procedure, then it may be a great option as studies show a 99% satisfaction outcome for patients who have the treatment!
Especially if you are not interested in going one step further for the more invasive facelift surgery.
Thread lifts can pull at your chin, jowls and jawline and correct a lot of the natural ageing process to give you smoother and tauter skin around your neck and help you to look younger and fresher.

Is a thread lift on the neck painful?
It would be wrong for us to suggest that the thread lift procedure was completely pain-free and that you will not experience any side effects. Especially when it isn’t.
However, compared to the alternative of full-scale facelift surgery, there is no comparison. You may find that your skin is very sensitive for at least the first few hours after receiving treatment.
You will not be able to use any cosmetic products that are known to cause even slight irritation as the effects will be exacerbated.
You also need to make sure your skin can breathe easily for at least the first 12 hours.
Side Effects and Risks of Neck Thread Lifts
Although it is not as severe as facelift surgery, with any cosmetic procedure, just like with any medical procedure, there is always the chance of side effects and risks.
As it is important you are fully aware of these before signing up for a thread lift, you need to know the negatives as well as the positives.
It is generally considered to be a low-risk treatment. However, there are some common side effects, including:
- Slight pain around the area where the barbed threads were inserted into your skin
- Bleeding
- Swelling
- Bruising
There is also a 15 to 20% chance of other complications, such as dimpling. Although these are minor and can be easily corrected, it is worth knowing about them all the same.
Further complications you need to be aware of, such as:
- Migration or unwanted movement of the barbed threads can cause the skin to have a bulged or lumpy appearance
- Visible pulling or dimpling around the areas where the barbed threads have been inserted
- A build-up of bleeding behind your skin where the threads are inserted
- Allergic reaction to the ingredients that the threads are made of
- Infection around the area where the procedure was performed
- Pain beneath your skin is caused by the threads being pulled too tightly or placed awkwardly
Infection is perhaps the most important risk associated with thread lifts you need to be aware of and actively look out for. You need to call your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms or signs:
- Fever
- Persistent and painful headaches
- Swelling that lasts for over 48 hours
- Red, brown, black, or green discharge from around the area where your thread lift was performed
