Rosacea
Rosacea is a rash that is commonly found on the face, either the forehead, cheeks, chin or nose. The skin condition causes the face to become reddened due to the blood vessels dilating, ultimately causing the face to appear flushed.

What Is Rosacea?
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition predominantly affecting the central face and most often occurs between the ages of 30–60 years. The skin tends to become red and flushed and can be linked to diet and lifestyle.
What Treatments Are Available for Rosacea?
Linia Skin Clinic aim to reduce the inflammation of the skin, help to clear rosacea prone spots, and improve the skins redness, hence why we have a range of rosacea skin treatments available. These include:
- Topical prescriptive treatments including creams or gels
- Facial chemical peel treatments, such as Mandelic acid which can be used to reduce the high colour and redness of the skin.
- Prescription tablets such as Tetracyclines and Erythromycin can also be used depending on the type of rosacea one has.
- Advance IPL with rosacea settings can also help reduce redness and treat dilated blood vessels and small thread veins. This combined with Nd:YAG Laser will help improve outcome significantly.
Linia Skin Clinic can help you to control and manage the symptoms of rosacea.

Questions & Answers
Some common questions we get asked about Rosacea
What Are the Symptoms of Rosacea?
Symptoms of rosacea include:
- Redness on cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead.
- Dry skin
- Facial swelling
- Raised red patches
- Sensitive skin
- Thickened skin
- Burning sensation
Rosacea sufferers may experience a combination of these symptoms at different times. Symptoms may come and go and vary in severity.
Is There a Cure for Rosacea?
There is no known cure for rosacea. However, there are many treatment options available to help control the condition and reduce symptoms.
Linia Skin Clinic offers a wide range of treatments to help our patients manage their rosacea. Lifestyle changes can also help to improve rosacea symptoms.
What Causes Rosacea?
There are many possible causes for rosacea. The most common causes are genetics, food intolerances, alcohol, hormonal changes, and stress.
Rosacea sufferers should keep an eye out for triggers -such as certain foods – so they can avoid them and minimise symptoms. At Linia Skin Clinic, we offer patients a premium food intolerance test to help identify the foods that may contribute to increased inflammation and trigger responses.
What Are the Different Types of Rosacea?
There are four rosacea subtypes:
- Subtype one – known as erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR). This type causes redness, flushing and visible thread veins.
- Subtype two – known as papulopustular rosacea. This type is sometimes called acne rosacea, as it is associated with breakouts. It tends to affect middle-aged women.
- Subtype three – known as phymatous rosacea. This is rarer type of rosacea and is characterised by thickening of the nose skin. This is mainly seen in men.
- Subtype four – known as ocular rosacea. This type of rosacea primarily causes symptoms around the eye area.
Risk Factors for Rosacea
Rosacea can affect anyone. However, there are some factors that make you more likely to develop the condition. Rosacea tends to be more common in people between the ages of 30 and 50.
Additionally, being fair-skinned and of Northern European descent is a significant risk factor. Rosacea is slightly more common in women than in men, but it can be known to affect men more severely.
