Why Do Cysts Develop?

Cysts develop when skin cells migrate deeper into the skin rather than shedding on the surface. As these cells multiply, they can create a sac filled with a thick, yellow, keratin-like substance. Step 2: Pre-Procedure Preparation

Step 3: The Removal Procedure

The procedure typically takes 30–45 minutes, depending on cyst complexity. You remain fully conscious under local anaesthetic, with minimal discomfort from the injection.

The process begins with a brief welcome and preparation. The area is examined, and any last questions are answered. The skin is then cleansed with antiseptic, and local anaesthetic is administered. Once numbness is ensured, a precise incision is made, and the cyst along with its sac is carefully removed. The area is cleaned thoroughly, the incision closed with fine sutures, and a sterile dressing applied.

Step 4: Recovery and Aftercare

During the first 24 hours, it is important to keep the area clean and dry, apply ice packs to reduce swelling, take prescribed pain relief if needed, and rest while avoiding strenuous activity. Keep the dressing in place.

In the first week, follow cleaning instructions carefully, apply any prescribed ointments, change dressings as directed, and avoid exercise, swimming, or heavy lifting. Suture removal is usually scheduled around day 5–7.

Ongoing recovery involves gradually returning to normal activities, caring for the scar with massage once healed, and protecting the treated area from sun exposure. Follow-up appointments are scheduled as needed.

Who Will I See During My Consultation?

Qualifying from the University of Manchester in 2003, he then underwent his medical training in London. He gained membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and subsequently spent over four years training in dermatology.

He has practised cosmetic dermatology since and offers his patients a variety of non and minimally invasive treatments to improve the appearance of their skin and to minimise the visible effects of premature skin ageing.

Dr Zokaie will listen to your needs during the consultation and, depending on the best course of action for you, will recommend a suitable treatment. These may include but aren’t limited to topical products, anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers to add volume to parts of the skin, including the lips and cheeks, and lasers, which tighten the skin on the face, jawline and submental area to smooth away wrinkles.
