What are bunny lines?
Bunny lines, in a similar way to crow’s feet, are the fine lines or wrinkles that develop over time on the skin on your face and are so-called because they are visible when you scrunch your nose up adorably.
Bunny lines start at either side of your face at the innermost corner of your eye and stretch out inward and downward on the skin, and often even horizontally onto your nose.
Although it is lovely when you see a rabbit scrunching its nose, it’s not quite as endearing perhaps, when you do it and see the same result up the side of the nose.

What muscle causes bunny lines?
Facial expressions are an important part of, well, expressing ourselves. They can convey when we are feeling sad, happy, angry, confused and a wide range of emotions that would be too comprehensive to list here.
The bottom line is, everyone uses facial expressions.
The problem is that over time if you pull the same facial expressions too often, you will start to see wrinkles develop. It is one of the many side effects of the ageing process.
The majority of fine lines and wrinkles are caused by the constant use of certain muscles.
When it comes to bunny lines, the muscle that is responsible for them is the nasalis muscle.
This is the muscle in your nose that works when you flare it up.
Nose wrinkles and bunny lines are caused by the constant contracting of your nasalis muscle.
Another cause of expression lines around your nose, in the form of nose wrinkles or bunny lines, whatever you want to call them, of the use of Botox.

The underlying cause is still overuse of specific facial muscles. How then is Botox involved?
Botox injections relax muscles in specifically targeted areas of your face.
The problem arises when certain muscles in the face are restricted and can’t move as they naturally would, the muscles that are free to move will overcompensate for them by working overtime.
Say, for example, you have Botox injections in the area between the eyebrows, known as your glabella.
When you frown, the effects of Botox mean you may find that the nasalis muscle kicks are more active.
When these particular muscles work more than others, you will have unnatural expression lines, and this is a tell-tale sign for many people that you have had “work done”.
This is particularly a problem if you have had what would be considered too much Botox over a long period.
When the nasal muscles are constantly forced to work more than is natural for them, those fine lines and nose wrinkles will develop more quickly.
How do you get rid of bunny lines?
In theory, the best way to get rid of bunny lines would be to stop doing the one thing that causes them, if your bunny lines are the result of the side effects of the ageing process.
However, in practice, it is not exactly feasible to try not to scrunch up your nose.
Funnily enough, therefore, the best way to get rid of bunny lines is with Botox injections.
This treatment involves using a small amount of Botox on each side of your nose, to help smooth out these wrinkles.
As you may know, Botox injections are still the most popular cosmetic procedure that is minimally invasive. Not just for your nose, but for your neck, jowls and more.
You will see results immediately, and these will improve over time as it is only a temporary fix, they will last for somewhere in the region of 3 to 4 months.

How does it work? Much like when Botox injections are used elsewhere, they help to paralyse or weaken the muscles responsible for bunny lines and help to give you a smoother and more youthful appearance.
The only thing you need to be careful about is having too much as it can result in causing further problems, making you look stiff and emotionless.
Although it doesn’t sound very appealing to have injectables inserted into the area around the sides of your nose and the bridge, it is less invasive than surgery and the size of the needle is similar to that used on other wrinkles, such as forehead wrinkles.
It is very fine and as a numbing agent is used on the skin where the needle is going to be inserted, it is unlikely to cause too much pain.
Some discomfort is to be expected. Other side effects are minor and will be discussed at your consultation appointment.
How much is Botox for rabbit lines?
If you are interested in anti-wrinkle injectables and filler treatments like Botulinum toxin or Botox, you will want to know the costs involved.
Bunny line treatment for the wrinkles around your nose is more affordable than you may have thought.
Although there may be over-the-counter topical creams and lotions that will help with your wrinkle problem, it is unlikely to be as effective as a trip to our clinic.
At Linia Skin Clinic in London, this treatment using Botox fillers for bunny line wrinkles around the nose area is available for both men and women.
The costs are slightly different, with the rabbits line procedure for men costing £100 and the procedure costing £75 for women.
Although you will need to top up on the treatment once the effects of the fillers wear off around your face, many of the people who have had the procedure at our surgery have become regular customers at our clinic and it is a suitable alternative to surgery on those frown lines and wrinkles.
