Thread lift

As you’ve undoubtedly noticed, over the course of time, changes happen to the appearance and shape of your face as a result of ageing. Not only is the elasticity and strength of your skin affected, but you also suffer cartilage, bone and fat loss. Fortunately, there are things you can do to reverse and reduce these symptoms of aging to maintain your natural beauty and improve the health of your skin and face. One of the most effective and least invasive treatments we provide at the Linia Skin Clinic in London is a thread-lift.

What is a Thread-Lift?

A PDO Thread Lift is a non-surgical facelift with PDO threads, suitable if you have loose skin around your mid to lower face and are looking for a tighter and fresher appearance. The treatment otherwise known as ‘the lunchtime facelift’ is a safe and effective alternative to surgical procedures. Results can be seen immediately and last on average for around 18 months.

Dissolvable threads are inserted into the face using a cannula, lifting loose skin and improving its texture. Unlike a surgical face lift there are no cuts or incisions, just small injections.

MINT Lift that we use is the most advanced PDO thread lift for face and neck rejuvenation. This is the Minimal Invasive Non-Surgical Thread (MINT) lift, which deploys state-of-the-art absorbable PDO threads. MINT Lift’s advanced ‘molding’ threading material composition has an anchoring and tensile strength three times greater than an earlier ‘cut thread’ technologies.

A Thread Face Lift can be combined with other anti-aging treatments: anti – wrinkle injections , fillers, HIFU and other procedures for higher optimised lifting and augmentation results.

What to Expect From Your Thread-Lift Consultation

Before you can have this plastic surgery procedure, just as is the case when you are having any of our procedures, you need a consultation appointment. This important meeting is conducted by the surgeon who will be performing the thread-lift procedure, if you decide to go ahead with it.

The purpose of the meeting is to assess your personal needs and suitability for the procedure and determine if it is indeed the most appropriate for you.

During the consultation you will field any of the questions you may have about the thread-lift procedure and concerns you may have, as well as giving advice for you.

What Are the Benefits of Thread-Lifts?

There are a number of skin complaints and conditions thread-lifts can treat with the following benefits:

  • Deep-set wrinkles – lines and folds around your chin and nose occur because of fat pads in your face drop down as you get older
  • Sagging Cheeks – mild and moderate cheek sagging caused by ageing
  • Jowls – thanks to age and the laws of gravity, jowls often form around your jawline and create problematic extra skin
  • Hollow Cheeks – ageing can cause your cheeks to lose volume. Thread-lifts can help stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen to remedy this problem and fill your hollow cheeks

Is a Thread Lift painful?

Although it is a type of surgery which normally means some level of pain, thread-Lift treatment offers minimal discomfort.

The pain is considerably less than a traditional facelift. Threads are loaded in very fine and extremely sharp needles or cannulas, making implantation virtually painless.

Only a topical anaesthetic or local anaesthetic is required depending on the threads used.

Are there any side effects?

With any procedure, even one as safe as a thread-lift, there is a chance of side effects. Generally, most of our clients experience mild bruising and swelling. However, this and redness around the treated area will only last for around 24 hours.

Therefore, you can expect to consider with your normal daily life the very next day.

Some of the most common side effects with this procedure are:

  • Bruising
  • Erythema
  • Edema
  • Mild levels of pain

It is rare, but some people suffer from suture granuloma formation and you may need to have your sutures replaced if this happens.

There is also the issue that if the plastic procedures is not carried out properly by an experienced professional, the skin can buckle and the superficial sutures are visible.

Are the results natural?

Thread-Lift treatment makes it possible to regenerate and firm the skin naturally, without changing your features or facial expression. You’re still you… just younger-looking and revitalised!

How many threads do I need?

The number of threads required will depend on the patient’s characteristics and the areas to be treated. Obtaining a regenerative effect that brightens skin and improves texture requires many threads. But your Doctor is the one to decide. Ask him or her for advice.

When will I see results?

There can be some immediate results seen. Thread-Lift treatment repositions sagging skin, providing a more youthful appearance. At that point, its regenerative action kicks in, increasing oxygen supply to the cells and stimulating collagen and elastin production. After a month or two, skin will be younger, firmer and brighter looking.
